Type the Countries: Pacific Islands Map Quiz
Practice the names and locations of the Pacific islands by typing the highlighted countries.
A quiz spread across half an ocean
This set is the independent Pacific island countries in Smurdy's group list. Australia and New Zealand are left out so the smaller island states get the attention.
Fiji feels isolated until you compare it with Kiribati or the Marshall Islands. Pacific distances are enormous.
Distance is misleading
At world scale the islands look like a loose spray of dots. Micronesia, Melanesia and Polynesia give you three smaller areas to remember.
How the typing map quiz works
One country is highlighted. Type its name and move on to the next one. You get the location as a clue, but the name has to come from memory.
Typing is useful once the shapes feel familiar but some of the names still lag behind.
Tip: If you recognize the shape but the name is slow, say the name out loud or in your head before typing.
The map gives you very few landmarks
The ocean distances are huge, and several countries are tiny on the map.
