This set runs from the Congo Basin down to the southern end of Africa. It includes a mix of very large inland countries and several compact states around South Africa.

The Democratic Republic of the Congo takes up huge space. Lesotho and Eswatini can nearly vanish beside South Africa.

How the typing map quiz works

One country is highlighted. Type its name and move on to the next one. You get the location as a clue, but the name has to come from memory.

Typing is useful once the shapes feel familiar but some of the names still lag behind.

Tip: If you recognize the shape but the name is slow, say the name out loud or in your head before typing.
