South America Without Borders Quiz: Find 12 Countries

Find the Countries / South America / 12 countries

South America only has 12 sovereign-country answers here, but removing the internal lines makes the north and the landlocked middle much less obvious.

Borders are gone, coastlines aren't

The round includes every sovereign country on the continent. Brazil fills most of the center and east; Bolivia and Paraguay are the two landlocked answers.

Chile is hard to lose. The northeast around Guyana and Suriname is where a blank map gets less friendly.

Why French Guiana is not an answer

French Guiana appears on the northeastern coast between Suriname and Brazil, but it is an overseas department of France rather than a sovereign country. This quiz therefore includes Guyana and Suriname among its 12 answers, but not French Guiana.

How the no-borders map quiz works

A country name appears on a South America map with the internal borders removed. Click its approximate location and keep going through all 12.

Borderless mode is a good follow-up once the normal click map has become comfortable.

Tip: Brazil touches most of the continent, so it is the easiest country to judge the others against.

Learning the blank map

The Pacific side has a clean north-to-south order. The two landlocked countries are also worth learning as a pair.
